Friends of the KNIR

The Friends of the KNIR Foundation consists of a network of academics, alumni and others who feel a strong connection with the KNIR and who support the institute.

The board of the foundation consists of a number of enthusiastic KNIR alumni who develop activities in the Netherlands to stimulate and maintain interest in the KNIR, but also to bring Friends and interested parties into contact with each other and with the KNIR.

Twice a year, the foundation publishes a newsletter with information about its own activities and those at the institute, with news from and about researchers who have conducted research at the institute.

Every year in the spring the Friends, Rome visitors and other interested parties get together for a Friends Day at a central location in the Netherlands. Besides a moment to see Friends and acquaintances from Rome again, the day is filled with a varied program of one or more lectures or presentations and news from the KNIR. If possible, a joint exhibition visit is planned and the Friends Day is traditionally concluded with a drink. In the event that an interesting Italy-related exhibition takes place in the Netherlands, we organize a visit with a guided tour for the Friends separately from the Friends’ Day.

Once every two years, the Foundation awards the Van Woudenberg Dissertation Prize.
