Scholarship: KNIR Scholarship for preparing a PhD-project

Title research: Beyond Bones: Exploring Social and Biological Kinship Relationships Between Individuals Buried in Tomb Clusters at the Protohistoric Settlement of Crustumerium without DNA analysis.
I will examine multiple clusters of graves found at the burial grounds of the ancient settlement of Crustumerium to be able to determine the kinship relations of the individuals buried together in the clusters and to determine the social composition of the society of Crustumerium as a whole.

Renée was already staying at the KNIR from 31 January to 20 March 2024 for a KNIR Scholarship for (R)MA students. During that time she was examining kinship relations between individuals buried in two clusters of graves at the ancient settlement of Crustumerium.
