Matisse Huiskens studied Art History in Leiden and Amsterdam and mainly focuses on the relationship between art and politics in the twentieth century. He stayed at the KNIR to do archival research and to write a PhD proposal. He is active as critic and was editor-in-chief of the journal Simulacrum.
