I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Dipartimento di Scienze Umane at Università dell’Aquila and a Fellow of the Royal Netherlands Institute in Rome in 2022. My postdoc research concerns the former Colonial Museum in Rome as a place where different languages and disciplines met, in order to convey the colonial idea of Fascism.

I obtained my master degree cum laude in Scienze Storiche (Università degli Studi di Firenze, 2017, supervisor Giulio Barsanti) and my PhD cum laude in History of Science at the Università degli Studi di Firenze / Università di Pisa consortium (defended in 2021, supervisor Claudio Pogliano). My PhD thesis proposes a survey and analysis of the collections from the former Italian colonies (Eritrea, Somalia, Libya, Ethiopia) in Italian museums. During my PhD I was visiting researcher at the Muséum Nationale d’Histoire Naturelle de Paris and at the École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS). I also obtained the Doctor Europaeus degree.

After my PhD, I was an Italian Fellow at the American Academy in Rome and I was awarded a scholarship from Fondazione Einaudi.

My works revolve around the colonial culture in Italy, the building of Italian national identity, Italian and European colonial museology, and the post-colonial legacies in Italian society, culture, and politics.
