Since 2016, the KNIR and the National Museum of Antiquities in Leiden (RMO) annually offer a scholarship to young researchers with a (R)MA degree in Archaeology, (Art) History, Classics or Museum Studies, allowing them to pursue their research at the KNIR. The scholarship can be used, for example, for preparing a PhD-project proposal, or writing an article, provided that it is related to the collecting areas of the National Museum of Antiquities. These are Egypt and Nubia, Classical Antiquity (Greeks, Romans, and Etruscans), the Ancient Near East and the (archaeology) of the Netherlands (prehistory, the Roman period, and the Middle Ages).

During the scholarship you will be supervised by one of the curators of the RMO and one of the KNIR staff members. You will be introduced to the museum before travelling to Rome. After completion of the scholarship you are asked to present your findings at the RMO, for example by giving a lecture, or writing a newsletter entry.
