UPDATE 04/05/2020: As Italy is gradually opening up again after a 7 week lockdown, KNIR is preparing to resume its activities. the institute will most likely remain closed until 1 July, but is ready to resume its program in the new academic year.
Needless to say, our facilities and activities will fully comply with all safety and health requirements in light of COVID-19. Should travel restrictions prevent you from coming to Rome, we will look together for appropriate alternatives for our courses and scholarships. Please note that the KNIR offers a small-scale yet spacious environment and personal support by our expert staff: the ideal circumstances to bring your academic skills to the next level in the 1.5 meter-society!

UPDATE 12/03/2020: The Royal Netherlands Institute in Rome is closed at least until 3 April. The last guests have left the KNIR on 11 March.

As a result of the most recent developments with regard to the spread of the coronavirus, the Italian government on 8 March 2020 issued a new decree law to address the emergency of the current epidemic.

All public and private KNIR events are cancelled until 3 April 2020. We suggest to periodically consult our event calendar for updates.
The KNIR has advised her Scholarship students and guests who are currently staying at the KNIR to return to the Netherlands in the course of this week.
As decided last week, all courses, that should have taken place in March, have been cancelled. The students involved will receive further information from us by email.

The KNIR Library will remain closed at least until 3 April 2020. During this period it is still possible to contact the library by e-mail.
